National Day of Prayer

Updated: May 1

May 2nd is National Day of Prayer. Let's pray in agreement: "Lord God, maker of heaven and earth.  The one who put the planets in their places and hung the stars in the sky.  The one who set the boundaries to the oceans, and divided the land into continents.  Who placed mankind in his habitat here on the earth.  You are the one who speaks to men’s hearts.   You place your plans and purposes inside of us so that Your will can be done on earth as it is in heaven.

So today, Lord, we come humbly before You.  We confess the sins of our nation, and we ask that You forgive us and cleanse us from all our unrighteousness. We pray for all the leaders that You have placed over this nation; from the top official all the way down to the local government leader.  Grant them wisdom, guidance, and Godly counsel to make decisions that will benefit our country, and for the wellbeing of the people that they govern.  Guide them as they review laws and legal documents.  Protect their minds from any evil schemes that the enemy would try to bring to them.  Send Your angels of protection all around them as they become visible public figures.

We pray for school teachers, college professors, administrators and others in the educational field of influence.  Let them speak God’s truth, and not compromise under social pressure.  We pray for first responders, various branches of the military, and those who are on call, who risk their lives for the protection of our nation.  We pray for the family.  That it remains as You have designed it to be from the beginning of creation.  We pray for the children of this country.  That no weapon formed against them shall prosper.  They are a blessing from You.  We pray for each individual that is alive.  That Your plans and purposes for them will be fulfilled as they walk out their destiny that was designed by You.

We thank You, Lord, for the privilege to come and pray for our country.  What an honor that You have given us.  We know Lord, that You hear our prayers because You said that the prayers of the righteous avail much.  And that those who come to You must believe that You are, and that You are a rewarder of those who diligently seek You.  So, we thank You in advance, Lord God, for answering our prayers and we give You all the praise!!  In the powerful and precious name of Jesus, we pray. Amen"

2024 Theme Verse of National Day of Prayer

“For you are my lamp, O Lord, and my God lightens my darkness. For by You I can run against a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall. This God—his way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true; He is a shield for all those who take refuge in Him.”

2 Samuel 22:29-31 ESV
