A Mother's Prayer...

Updated: Mar 29

As a mother of two teenage children, I found myself carrying a burden so heavy it was hard for me to breathe. Questions flooded my mind. Where are they going? Who are they with? Are they tempted by the common lures of the world? My heart filled with pressure to protect them and the pain of understanding that I could no longer “control” their environment like I thought I could when they were younger.

One day, I went on a walk as I often did to pray, sing, listen, and relax. As I walked, I talked to my Heavenly Father about what I was feeling. As I unburdened my heart and mind to Him, I heard the words “that your faith would not fail.” Knowing it was a portion of scripture, I found it on my phone to read what the full scripture said. “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded permission to sift you like wheat; but I have prayed for you, that your faith would not fail…” Luke 22:31-32

In that instance, I knew my prayer for my children would forever change. Jesus demonstrated how He prayed for the one He so dearly loved. I now have joined my prayer with His for my children. In times of testing, I pray that their faith would not fail and with that, trust in the One who holds their lives in His hands
