Years ago, as I was trying to listen and learn to walk and flow in the Holy Spirit, My wife Tami and I were walking in a downtown Houston park in mid-winter. There was a very animated man trying to hand out a paper, shepherding his cause. He appeared homeless and poverty-stricken. People were giving him a wide berth. As we walked by, I sensed the Lord say, go talk to him. Tami grabbed my hand as I turned around and said to me, "Let’s go". I walked over to him and my oldest son followed me thinking he might have to save his dad. The man tried to hand me a piece of paper and as our eyes met, I asked him, what do you want? He looked at me funny, took a deep breath, and said, I have cancer and want to go to Galveston to see my mom. I need a bus ticket to get there. I said OK, but I want to pray for you first. His face had a look of shock. As my son and I laid our hands on him and began to pray his shoulders began to shake and then he began to cry. When I finished praying, I hugged and wished him well. He grabbed me and then told me that very morning he had asked the Lord to send a Christian to help and pray for him. Then it was my turn to cry. That was the start of my journey to tune into the Lord and be used by Him. It’s a very interesting and exhilarating way to live, and I love when I hear THE VOICE and respond correctly.
“If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” Galatians 5:25
