I have an ongoing struggle with my thoughts, my words, and pride! They are a stumbling block! And I have an ongoing prayer to overcome these struggles .
Recently I was asked if I wanted to join a daily text of specific verses in Scripture. The topic was ‘Pass the Salt’ and my response was “yes”. And these very verses I started receiving were on our words.
Prior to receiving the series of verses, one morning, (8/13/2024), while talking to God, the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart: “Watch your words and gather your thoughts.” So when I saw the topic, I knew that God was answering my prayers. As I read the daily verses I could feel spiritual growth.
Then to add gas to the flame, in my daily Bible reading I started yearning to move from the Old Testament to the gospels since Christmas was approaching. The book of John was at the forefront of my mind. As I was gathering my thoughts and made my decision; I turned to John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
John 1:14 says “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”
God is serious about the words we speak; so let’s speak Jesus!
I am amazed at how God works in our hearts; through other believers: and for His Divine Word. In His Word we have life, joy, and assurance that we are His.
“For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word,
the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.”
James 3:2
