Praying God's Word

Being a baby Christian and after hearing other Christians pray, I (Myrna) realized I didn't know how to pray. I cried out to the Lord, "Teach me how to pray for others. I don't know how or what to say." A month later, while reading the Bible, I opened to Philippians and right there, God revealed the answer to my prayer. Paul wrote a letter to the Christians at Philippi and in it he wrote his prayer for them (Philippians 1:3-11). The Holy Spirit prompted me to make Paul's prayer my own prayer for my family, friends and co-workers by putting their names in wherever I saw the word "you", and I also prayed it for myself.
Praying God’s Word means talking to Him using His words, in the form of a prayer, which is prayed back to Him. By “Praying God’s Word,” it also provides a way to help “jumpstart” your own prayers.
In addition, Ephesians 1:15-19 can be used as a follow up prayer for those who receive a GOD STORIES book, as well as for your family, friends and yourself, by inserting the person’s name every time you see the word “you”. This is an example of praying God’s word:
“Therefore I also, after I heard of _______’s faith in the Lord Jesus, and love for all the saints, do not cease to give thanks for _______, making mention of _______ in my prayers: that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to _______ the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of _______’s understanding being enlightened; that _______ may know what is the hope of _______’s calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power,” Eph.1:15-19.
Here are other scriptures that can be personalized:
· Colossians 1:9-12
· Philippians 1:9-11
· Ephesians 3:14-21
· Philemon 4-7
Also, consider writing these prayers on an index card or in your journal. Memorize, declare and pray these for yourself and others. Then watch as God reveals Himself in you and in those prayed for.
