Do You Have Eyes on the Prize?

Are you going to soar or crash?

After 40 years of farming, I now take people hunting for a living. It has always been a passion of mine, teaching what I know and helping my hunter succeed. Some hunts, everything falls in place and it seems so easy. Another day, everything is a challenge-it’s too cold, too hot, animals are wary and wild, shots are missed or worse, animals have to be tracked through thick South Texas brush full of cactus, thick tangling brush, and a chance for an encounter with a rattlesnake. Those days require patience and keeping your eyes on the prize. Don’t let yourself get down, discouraged, and ready to quit. Fight through the discomfort and discouragement so you get your prize.

The Christian walk is the same way. Some days, prayers are answered and manna falls from the sky. Other days, you dodge hailstorms. My former pastor once preached, “Your attitude will determine your altitude. In those hard seasons, you can soar or you can crash hard by how you perceive your situation. Trust God through it. Don’t lose hope and keep your eye on the prize.”

As a Christian, there are 3 likely scenarios. You are coming out of a storm, you are in the midst of a storm, or you are about to encounter a storm. The Bible says in this world storms are coming, but be of good cheer. ATTITUDE!

“Forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14
