Many of you can relate to driving your car down the road and inadvertently taking your eyes momentarily off the road. Maybe you accidentally dropped something that fell on the floorboard or you were very tired and failed to stay focused on your driving and your car veers towards the side of the pavement. All of a sudden your tires run over the sleeper lines or alert stripes that are to alert drivers of potential danger by causing a tactile vibration and audible rumbling transmitted through a vehicle's wheels into its interior. They warn you that you are dangerously close to running off the roadway and having an accident.
Sometimes the same thing can happen in our Christian walk. Due to many things/responsibilities that we have in our daily lives, we sometimes let these take priority over our time set aside and dedicated to the Lord, Bible study and prayer time. Recently, we had this occur one morning with small problems coming up and we chose to put off our regular time with the Lord in order to attend to these. Therefore, we did not do our daily Bible reading, praying together and most importantly putting on God's armor. Things did not go well for us that day and we realized that we had lost our focus and was headed towards the ditch. Thank God we were able to realize what had happened, asked for forgiveness, and move back into our lane on the road.
It is so easy to get life priorities out of order and move spiritual needs to the bottom of the list. Maybe you find yourself struggling with that lately and find yourself hearing that harsh sound of your tires on the rough edge of the road heading towards the ditch! Before it's too late and you crash, turn to God. Get Back on the Road!
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6
