Jesus, Lover of My Soul!

When I became born-again, Jesus baptized me with the Holy Spirit and fire (Matthew 3:11), and I was “on fire” and VERY passionate about Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, praising Him continuously throughout the day.  His presence engulfed me.  I had a real, loving relationship with Him on a “daily throughout the day” basis… not a “Sunday go to church one,” and live however I wanted the rest of the week.  Therefore, I would constantly pray and talk to Jesus throughout the day.

 A couple of years later, an older Christian said to me, “Myrna, you don’t have to constantly go back and forth praying all day.  I pray once in the morning and know that God has my day taken care of.”  As a young Christian, I thought, “I must be doing it all wrong.”  So, I did what they shared: I prayed and read my Bible only in the morning and had stopped “praying without ceasing,” talking and worshiping the Lord throughout the day.  My walk with the Lord gradually cooled down.  I was still “doing” all the good Christian things, like going to church, praying, and reading my Bible, but my “ON-FIRE, LOVING RELATIONSHIP” with Jesus was somewhere behind.

Then the Lord opened Gayle and my eyes to see that we had become “religious” in our walk with Jesus after reading Revelations 3:15-16.  We repented and asked the Lord, “Bring back our passionate, loving, friend relationship with You.  Help us!”  The Lord answered: “Change your pattern of living: seek Me first instead of other things first.  Walk and talk with Me.  Be aware of My presence throughout the entire day.”

We did, and everything changed.  The Lord drastically changed our hearts, our worship, our prayer life, EVERYTHING.  Instead of lukewarm, we were HOT again.  Jesus opened our eyes to have Him truly be LORD of our lives, and He gave us back the ON-FIRE, LOVING RELATIONSHIP with Him!
