A Soft Answer

In 2020, my family experienced losing a loved one to cancer. To say emotions were high would be accurate. Normally we do not have harsh words for each other, but circumstances can change that and did. In one instance in particular, I was in the middle of a heated discussion that I did not want any part of. As I was ready to attack in response and defend myself, I heard the Lord bring this verse to mind repeatedly. "A soft answer turns away wrath." Over and over, the Lord reminded me and kept me in check. I chose not to attack with my words. Instead, I said I don't want to fight. There's no need to get upset over this. Composure brought peace and we ended the conversation. The next day I received an apology. A SOFT ANSWER is sometimes all that is needed.

"A soft answer turns away wrath; but grievous words stir up anger." Proverbs 15:1

"If a ruler’s anger rises against you, do not leave your post;

calmness can lay great offenses to rest." Ecclesiastes 10:4
