God Intervened In My Life!

My wife and I were not in good standing with each other and I wanted to kill myself. I took my gun and was going to commit suicide that night. Meanwhile, my wife and my mother were looking all over South Padre Island, TX for me. My mother found me behind one of my Island stores in the dark. I was holding a gun to my head and crying like a baby. She told me to give her the gun, which I did, because I didn’t want to kill myself in front of her. We left and I spent the night at her house. The next day I was helping her run one of our booths at an indoor flea market, when a man came up and started sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with me.  I thought, “Oh no, a ‘Jesus freak’.”  He gave me a tract, a pamphlet, explaining what it takes to get to heaven, and how I could be set free in Jesus.

What he told me began to make sense, and that night I became born again. I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I felt totally different. I was freed from suicidal thoughts, and of the hurts and anger I had been feeling. My wife saw the freedom I was experiencing, and a week later, she and our eldest daughter were born again.

The next day at work I called all my co-workers to a meeting and shared the whole truth about the gospel of Jesus. That day was just the beginning of a life of ministry. Since then, God has opened up doors for me to teach Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, have youth groups, and go into several public schools to share the gospel. Later I became a bi-vocational pastor (business man and a pastor). Many lives were changed for His glory, all because of Jesus Christ setting me free.  Whom the Son sets free is free indeed! 

“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God,

to those who are called according to His purpose.”  Romans 8:28
