WHAT KIND OF AN EXAMPLE ARE YOU?

Several years ago, our daughter’s boyfriend was in a really bad way and she wasn’t helping much in that situation either. Since then, they have found the Lord and I praise Him for that.

I had gone to pick up the grandkids at Huntington, and my daughter asked if I could give the boyfriend a ride to his mom’s house across town. I thought about it for a second, and then I answered, “yes, I will take him.” The grandkids could not believe what I had just said. And that I was being kind to him and they told me so after he got out of the car. This was a good time to give them a lesson in being an example of a Christian. Since that day, a lot has happened in his life. He ended up giving his heart to Jesus, and has become a minister and a living witness to the wonder of salvation.

Sometimes I wonder where he would be today, had I not shown a Christian spirit. If God lays it on our heart to do something for someone, we need to act on that, because who knows what good may come out of our example. I was thinking of the verse in 1Timothy 4:12, which says, “Let no man despise thy youth, but be thou an example of the believer in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in purity.” I thank the Lord that I followed those leadings of His Spirit.
