WHO ARE YOU BEFRIENDING? Jesus shared meals and had conversations with people (sinners) long before He shared values. Just being together with people and having a genuine, honest conversation, and listening to those who aren't believers in Christ, over time, can cause walls to fall down. Loving people makes space for conversation and draws people to Christ.
I personally know that from experience. For you see, Betty Thompson, years ago, befriended me when I was 33 years old, and I had never received Christ as my Savior.

Everything in my life was falling apart, but Betty would have "normal, everyday conversations" with me. She lived out her authentic Christian walk. I remember one time she said to me -- "Have faith in God", as Gayle and I took our 9-month-old son, Jack, to the hospital, and at that same time, checked our 20 1/2-month-old daughter, Kristi, out of the hospital.
Those words pierced my heart. A few days later, after Jack was released, I called out to the Lord at home and asked Him into my heart, surrendering all my life to Him. Jesus radically changed me. I repented, forgave, and voraciously read my Bible, praying and constantly talking to Jesus all day long.
Thank You, Jesus, for using Betty, a willing and obedient vessel, to love me to You, Christ. Thank You, Jesus, for drawing me to You and being my Savior!!! Forever I will PRAISE AND LOVE YOU!!!
Who Are You Befriending?
While Jesus was having dinner at Levi’s house, many tax collectors and sinners were eating with him and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” Mark 2:15-17
