Prayer is so important in marriage, it takes us to higher levels of faith and belief as we lift our spouses up in prayer to cover them with God’s protection, to pray for their needs, or to pray for them for wisdom in walking through trials. When we are praying the Word in faith for our spouses it not only encourages them, but it does something in our hearts to encourage us. That was what happened to me on the night of November 2022 when God spoke to me while I was out praying for Bobby on our balcony at our home in Mexico. God said, “I want you to write 30 days of Bobby's awesomeness!” It was so sweet, how I felt at that moment when the Lord said that because I knew He wanted me to just bless Bobby big time with words of encouragement to remind him of how awesome he is to me and our family and to the church! So, I started that night by getting a colored index card and writing my first “30 DAYS OF BOBBY AWESOMENESS!”
I waited until he went to sleep and I put it on our bathroom mirror for him to read when he woke up early to head to church. Boy, was he surprised! So, he asked me, in fact, he woke me up and said, “What is this?” So, I explained what God had instructed me to do, to give him 30 days of reminding him of how awesome he is in every area of his life. He laughed and said, “You might run out of things to say in a week or so”.
I told him, “No, that won’t happen because you are SO AWESOME!” So, each night I wrote on a colored card something so special about his Godly character, his giving heart, his love for God and the Word, his sacrifices for his family, and for our church, his humor, the mercy that he operates in every day to everyone and I could go on and on. So, 30 days went by so fast and I was loving every moment of those SHOWERS OF BLESSINGS of thoughts, remembering why I married this Godly man 52 years ago.
We both received such a fresh touch from God in our lives as I wrote and he read each card and remembered how God put us together in love, to bind our hearts together for a CALL TO MISSIONS! Showers of blessings have been in our married lives for these 52 years and 45 years in Mexico! The cards were just God’s way of saying to both of us “Don’t forget your blessings!”
