For years and years, my dad had been an Agnostic and never wanted to hear anything about the Lord. He would stop us in our tracks if we even tried to talk to him about spiritual things. "Get out of my face" and "I don't want to hear it". My brother was even a Pastor and we in the family who were Christian prayed regularly and earnestly for Daddy's eyes and ears to be opened to the truth.
In his 90's he experienced a debilitating stroke that put him in a hospital and eventually into a Nursing Home and then Hospice. I visited him daily and one day when I arrived in his room, he spoke clearly and with positivity, "I've been born again". What? (I knew in my times with him I had never used that term). He began to tell me what I had longed all my life to hear. Then he told me to write a check from his account to give to my brother's church for a new piano. Wow! Something surely happened!!! Was this really my dad? Oh, my goodness, what joy filled my heart. I thought surely an Angel had visited him. The Lord had spared him long enough for him to make a profession of his faith with a nurse who had visited his room that day. And at 91 years young, he accepted the Lord as his Savior. Hallelujah. I'll see him in heaven someday.
"May the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, 18 the eyes of your [f]understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints..." Ephesians 1:17-18
