About five years ago, John started having issues with his leg “locking up” on him. We went to an urgent care in our city and got a ridiculous diagnosis that left John and I scratching our heads. A few months later we went to a different place and the PA had an X-ray done. She suggested a disc might be pinching a nerve. Years later John’s issues with his leg worsened. He had tests done to check his circulation and to test his nerves. Nothing. John started feeling numb from the waist down.
A few months back, he finally got an X-ray that showed severe stenosis of four discs and his spinal column. God took charge. We decided to have a consult with a neurosurgeon in San Antonio. In a whirlwind of tests and appointments, John had surgery 12 days later. Twelve is the number of God’s power and authority. God opened doors, provided the finances needed, led us to a hospital where the surgeons and nurses prayed for John. I was terrified to take John out of the hospital knowing I would solely be responsible for his care. You see John had taken a fall in the hospital and needed a lot of support in moving about. A couple that we knew from our hometown had moved to San Antonio. They saw my post on Facebook and decided to come visit at the hospital. God had sent his ordinary angels to my rescue. They saw how nervous and scared I was and they opened their home and their help to us. We spent about two weeks at their home. God was our portion through it all. We felt his hand through it all. He never left us. All to his honor and glory John was back doing street ministry one month to the day. We talked to our pastor about all the blessings during this difficult time. He explained that that was God’s favor in our lives. Thank you, Lord, for being so good and so faithful.
"Yahweh is the portion which is my share and my cup. You hold my lot. The measuring lines have fallen for me in pleasant places. Yes, my inheritance is delightful for me." Psalm 16: 5-6
