Jesus saved me while I was stationed at Fort Bragg in Fayetteville, North Carolina. I had gone to the Ammunition Supply Point to turn in residue. The person in charge of the residue yard was Mr. Tommy Burns who later became my pastor. He asked me did I attend church and was I saved, and I boldly answered "No" to both. I further told him why should I attend church on Sunday, if I planned on cursing and smoking all seven days of the week anyway.
One Sunday morning I woke up my wife and said we are going to church. I told her a pastor I met at work had invited me to hear what he was talking about. When we arrived, he wasn't even preaching that Sunday but had a guest preacher. At the end of service during the altar call the guest preacher said, "There is a man here that is not living right and his son is watching everything he is doing thinking it is right but he knows it is all wrong."
I remember telling God I am going to the altar because that is what my family needed from me and God told me that I had voids in my life that only He could fill. I must come to Him for that reason and He would draw my family. I gave my life to Jesus that day and immediately began proving God at His word that week. I said Jesus the Bible says that You are a deliverer; I need to be delivered from smoking. I attended church the following Sunday delivered from smoking without even experiencing any withdrawal symptoms. I accepted the Lord over 20 years ago and I have been convinced since then.
