I’m sure you have heard the expression, “Just do it”, or “Do it afraid”, or “Fake it till you make it”. Nice sounding phrases, until you have to do something that is out of the ordinary for you, and then you wonder, “Did I really hear from God?” “Is this what He really wants me to do?”
I had been asking the Lord what I was supposed to do for Him. If I could just get clear direction, I would do it. But I had not heard any loud speaker voice say, “Do this or do that.” Like Elijah in 1 Kings 19:11-13, the Lord did not speak to Elijah from a great, strong wind, or in the earthquake, or in the fire. The Lord spoke to Elijah in a still small voice. Instead, I had heard from God, and He had spoken to me, as a still small voice.
The Lord wanted me to write a letter to my best friend in elementary school and tell her that I would be praying for her cousin who was ill, and that God could heal her. I was also prompted to send several God Stories booklets and rack cards to my friend asking her to keep some for herself and to pass the rest on to her cousin.
Proverbs 15:23 says, “A man has joy by the answer of his mouth; and a word spoken in due season, how good it is!” Isaiah 52:7 says, “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who proclaims peace, who brings glad tidings of good things, who proclaims salvation, who says to Zion, 'Your God reigns!'’’
Our pastor says to step out and take a risk, be extreme, dream big, and ask God to do what you’re believing Him for, because nothing is impossible with God. I believe the word of God, and if God spoke to me to do this act of writing a letter and sending God Stories booklets and rack cards, then God has a plan. I believe there will be something in one of those stories that will cause hope to arise in her heart. It will be a word spoken to her in due season. All I have to do is, Just Do It.
